Dawn. Through the mist, morning's early light arises. But a stronger one stands out. It's a wildfire that spreads in the distance. From her home, in the top of the mount, a worried woman faces the flames. But it's not the proximity of danger that troubles her. Inside her house, her daughter sleeps, indifferent to the smoke that enters her room.

PARALYMPIA is an essay film that focuses on rebuilding the idea of the Paralympic athlete through a historical revisiting of the Paralympic games. The archival images are accompanied by two voices of contemporary Paralympians that reminisce on their work as athletes and the way they and other people have dealt with their disabilities.

About
Miguel Mesquita was born on November 15 1999, in Matosinhos. In 2020 he obtained a bachelor degree in Sound and Image, from Universidade Católica Portuguesa - School of Arts. His final project, the film Our house in flames, premiered at Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival. At the moment, he's in the last year of his master degree in Cinema, and producing his newest film, The Night of the King (co-produced by the Hyperion Collective).
